Gaston Acurio opened Manko in Paris last February after a few months of delay, it’s an ambitious project because it combines a cabaret, a cocktail bar and a restaurant based on the Peruvian gastronomy.
Our interest was focused on the restaurant and the food in which Gaston Acurio has built his fame and success around the world. Here in Paris, Gaston’s resident chef is Ruben Escudero who has the challenge to translate and put in plates and French palates the Peruvian cooking.
We came to Manko for the first time in March, a few days after its grand opening, to test the cocktails at the bar based on the Pisco Sour, and right away we were blown by the explosion of savors and colors. After tasting a few cocktails, we can tell you up front that Manko Bar is one of the best cocktail bars in Paris.
On December 7th 2016 we came back to test the restaurant. We opted for the lunch menu at 29 euros for two entrées (Mixto Ceviche & Quinoa Salad), one main dish (Grilled beef with Tari sauce) and one dessert ( Chocolate espuma with homemade Lucuma ice cream). Every dish was flavorsome, tasty with all ingredients were perfectly cooked.
Manko is probably one of the best and the most affordable places to lunch within the Golden Triangle area of Paris
